Long Beach Island’s northern end is home to the Borough of Barnegat Light. This small community is home to 1,100 residents. During the winter, there are normally only 700 residents who remain. The community has not changed a lot over the course of the last century and is still dominated by the second tallest lighthouse in the United States, “Old Barney”.
